With the polar vortex still holding the East Coast in its grip, though forecasts suggest the weather will ease up this weekend, many residents of Boston and other East Coast cities are worried about the hideous heating bills they'll be seeing on the other side of the frost. That shouldn't be a barrier to turning on that Boston furnace, though, because being cheap with heat can put you at risk of health problems and damage your house! Fortunately, there are a number of things you can do to cut down on the expense, including weatherizing, installing a programmable thermostat, turning off appliances when not in use, and other common-sense measures.
