RALEIGH, N.C. — Temperatures soared into the upper 70s at Raleigh-Durham International Airport Saturday, the highest daytime high since Oct. 25, 2012, WRAL meteorologist Aimee Wilmoth said.

The warm temperatures and accompanying sunshine will disappear quickly on St. Patrick's Day morning, as highs Sunday could be 20 to 25 degrees cooler as a cold front sags through central North Carolina.

Spotty showers are possible throughout the day Sunday, setting up a gray pattern that will linger during the first half of the work week.

"Our best chance for showers is going to be late Monday into early Tuesday, but we could see showers at any time during the next three days," Wilmoth said.
