Santa Paws, food truck rodeo lead our weekend best bets
A race to help homeless pets and Durham's last food truck rodeo of the year - all this weekend in the Triangle!

RALEIGH, N.C. — Durham’s final food truck rodeo of the year is Sunday. More than 60 trucks will be on hand, as well as Fullsteam brewery. Food, music and a craft market highlight this event at Durham Central Park.
Relive the touching love story “Ghost” this weekend at the Durham Performing Arts Center. The popular film has been turned into a musical and features a pop score co-written by super music producer Glen Ballard. Tickets start at $30. The show runs through Sunday.
Also on stage this weekend is Elf, The Musical at Raleigh Memorial Auditorium. The popular movie's stage adaptation is perfect for the whole family. Tickets start at $34, and the show runs through Sunday.
It’s all about the dogs on Sunday at Cameron Village. The Santa Paws 5K is being held rain or shine. Race with your pet or competitively without them. You can even get your photo taken with celebrity Santa – WRAL’s very own Gerald Owens. Race starts at 6:45 a.m. You can register online or on-site if slots are still available. Proceeds go to help homeless animals at the SPCA of Wake County.
Eddie Murphy’s brother, Charlie Murphy, will bring his standup act to Goodnight’s Comedy Club this weekend. You might recognize him from his appearances in film and TV. He was one of the stars of Comedy Central’s “Chappelle’s Show.” Shows are Thursday through Saturday and tickets are $28.
New Orleans’ own Trombone Shorty will play UNC’s Memorial Hall Friday night. Expect a high energy show with old school jazz, funk, soul and hip hop beats. Tickets start at $39.
The Town of Wake Forest will celebration the opening on its Renaissance Center with a three-day “Celebration of the Arts” extravaganza. Events range in price from $15 to $75 and include music and theatre productions.
Celebrate African culture at the North Carolina State Fairgrounds this weekend. The African Festival: Africa Arise and Shine is being held at the Kerr Scott Building starting Saturday. This free, family-friendly event will include food and entertainment, including live music by singer-songwriter and dancer Ngombe Ntoto, who will sing in five different languages.
Wakefield High School is the site of the Mistletoe Market Holiday Fair this Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Get your holiday shopping started with handmade arts and crafts and jewelry. Admission is $5, but you can get $1 off if you bring a canned good.
