Sanford man held without bond in girlfriend's death

Posted August 4, 2008

— Edward Donald Rivera, 21, of 601 Barnes St., faces first-degree murder charges in the stabbing death of Dana Shorb, 17. Rivera was denied bond during a hearing on the case Monday and was assigned a court-appointed attorney.

Shorb was found dead on April 26 in the shower of her home at 210 Bounty Lane, which she then shared with Rivera and their child.

An autopsy showed Shorb died of a stab wound to the chest. She was also stabbed in the arms, head, neck and chest 11 times. The report called Shorb's death "violent and suspicious."

Sanford police classified Shorb's death as a homicide on July 24.

All I have to say is that if people would raise their children with morals this world would not be as wicked and corrupt as it is. I feel sorry for my grandchildren that are having to be exposed to all this horror.

Why in the world the newspapers and other media continue to publish these autopsy reports is beyond me. In case you're wondering, you can find out how much stool the poor sould had in her colon and what was in her stomach. It just further defiles her dignity to have that published, without serving any legitimate purpose.

This is so sad! The death of a young girl at 17 who now has left behind a child. The stress of parenthood is a lot and I can imagine it caused many problems between the two! Children don't realize in their teens the responsiblies that come along with having sex! This is a tragic loss for everyon!
