Sam Smith postpones Raleigh concert

Singer Sam Smith has postponed his concert scheduled Thursday night at PNC Arena.

RALEIGH, N.C. — Singer Sam Smith has postponed his concert this week at PNC Arena, concert promoter Live Nation announced Wednesday.

The show was scheduled for Thursday.

Promoters urged ticket holders hold on to their tickets because a new date will be announced soon.

"After just having vocal surgery, we underestimated how much resting time my voice needs. This show is not canceled complete and will be rescheduled. But I am so sorry for any inconvenience caused. I have to put my health first. No matter how much this kills me," Smith posted late Wednesday on his official Facebook page.

Update: Sam Smith has rescheduled his PNC Arena show originally scheduled for July 23 to Oct. 6.
