— North Carolina Education Lottery officials say sales are slow for the state's multi-million dollar raffle.

The lottery is selling 500,000 tickets for the Cash Splash Millionaire Raffle. So far, 150,000 tickets have sold, spokesman Van Denton said Wednesday.

Lottery officials expect more sales during the week of drawing. Tickets are $20 each for the Sept. 8 drawing.

The raffle has three top prizes of $1 million apiece.

Blossom - They are paying out more than 3 mil. Each of the top 3 million dollar prizes actually pays approx $1,470,000, and there are several $50,000, $5,000 and $500 prizes. They are actually paying out about half of their intake (if all sell).

Years ago I played powerball for about 1 year at $2 a week. I spent $100 and won $3 once - all the rest were losers. Needless to say I stopped playing and will never play again.

glo - you don't know anyone who has won even $5 in the past year? Really? I've won more than that. And hit 4 out of 5 numbers in Carolina Cash 5.

HEck, I am a state employee and I need to win because by the time I retire there will be no retirement! Besides.. need it to pay my healthcare bills....

I have my tickets and there's time to buy more. We're hoping to win before the state absorbs my pension into the general fund. If I win the lottery, I won't have to mooch off my kids when I retire.

The NC lottery would sell way more tickets if they had more winning tickets. I don't know of anyone who has won even 5 dollars in the past year, so most people Iknow have quit buying them. It only makes sense - the more likely people are to win, the more likely they are to spend money on a ticket.

I have been praying to win the lottery. My minister has suggested that it would increase my chances if I bought a ticket.

I've bought a good number of scratch offs lately..NONE have won anything. Is it bad luck or just bad odds you decide.

The games are paying out very poorly.

Slow sales, guess they should've kept Sheehan around a little longer. This has to be solely because he left. Send him a bill!

Donate the $20 to your local school PTA. It will be much better spent!
