WTH is this???

So I'm hearing several different stories.I'm being told this is a Japanese hornet, and then I'm being told that they aren't here in America. All I know is that they live in the ground around my day lillies, and they have this horrible, evil buzz, and they seem to be very aggressive. Help!!

Spring is here. maybe.. but dang if I'm not feeling the call of the beach. Who want's to be there and where? I'm a Cherry Grove Beach nut. I like the quiet area, and of course I know where every thing is as far as pizza, groceries, breakfast hops, etc... add your own... but Cherry Grove is my hangout. :)

What Really Pizzes You Off.

So what pizzes you off most about drivers? What really gets me is the cell phone talkers that think they're doing fine, but no...they're not. They're driveing like drunks. They're in and out of the lanes, they're slow and fast. OK...so I've told you my problems, you tell me yours. Talk about whatever gets you mad on the roads.

Any Fireplace Experts Out There?

Need some expert advice here. We have an unvented (gas log) fireplace. It has a fan at the bottom that is turned on by a light switch. There is an opening in the base of the chimney,(flue?) which we keep closed. My question is, can this be converted *cheaply to a wood burning fireplace? The home was built in the mid 70's and the fireplace is original. We have electric heat, but I would love to have a fire in the evening, and early mornings. We have an acre of woods that could be used for firewood supply.

Democratic Party Calling You

Got a phone call yesterday that I just had to share with my GOLO friends. It was the Democratic Pary wanting to thank me for my vote for Obama, (I'm registered Dem. doesn't mean I vote that way all the time). The lady proceeds to tell me all the wonderful things Obama's going to do for me and the country. Then she goes on to thank me for my vote of confidence for Bev Perdue. (Huh?), and how she's going to turn this state around. She continues with how the Democratic Party has been very anxious to have someone in the White House again, so they can help all the families like me out there that have been hurt by these tough "economic times" thanks to Bush's politics. And how for a mere $58.00 (where'd they get that number), I can continue to guarantee the strong work of the Democrats. That's when I just had to interrupt her, I really tried not to laugh. I told her I voted McCain.. "HUH, REALLY"??? was her reply, then I told her I really felt that my $58.00 is happier in my pocket, and that I was sure they'd get it eventually with or without my support. Beware of big smiles and promises, the whole time they're blinding you with their teeth, they're reaching around and grabbing your wallet.
