Here you’ll find the thoughts and ramblings of the TV News Photographer. Meet the slightly tilted people who face hurricanes, mobs, dangerous suspects and all manner of ill attitudes to bring you incredible video. They are also the people who touch your heart, make you smile and take you fascinating places through the glass on their lens.

So often kids, and people in general, ask me '”Who's the coolest person you've met?” My standard answer is usually “well, I've worked w/ Clay Aiken. I've been to a few Presidential events”… or “Klinger from MASH”. The truth is, I can never remember all the people I've met or the places I've been, whether their worthy of discussion or not.
But really, some of the best people you meet are the ones people never see on TV or even know about. This is the case with the man I met a few days ago. He was in town covering the UNC-Chapel Hill Pit Attack. His name is Tim and he is a Satellite Truck operator out of Atlanta. Tim travels the country driving the Gunner Live van, mainly in the Southeast, doing remotes for various networks on various stories. I had the opportunity to spend some time chatting about places he's been and the jobs he's had. He also spent some time telling me about operating a satellite truck. For a newbie like me, it's great to hear more about the equipment you are using and to see what others are operating with. Not to mention the great insight that can be obtained just by listening and watching someone else doing their job.
Thanks Tim, for spending the time showing me the Satellite readings for my area, the computer program available and just talking to me between our live shots. Be well and safe travels!
