Why you are passionate about participating in the KOMEN N.C. Triangle Race for the Cure?

I am passionate because I believe the assistance Susan G Komen gave my mother was a tremendous help in her fight with breast cancer.

I always knew of Susan G Komen as a resource that helped the diagnosed meet with survivors for support. I felt honored to help Susan G Komen when I knew of this event, and others.

Over the years, I have recognized there is a common bond between those affected by breast cancer, when I met other survivors and their families.

When my mother was diagnosed with the illness it was a morbid time for the family and it really was a chance to strengthen our bonds; while also being constantly tested with a fear of losing ones mother. From her I saw a struggle to keep from throwing up food after treatments and a cosmetic trial over her hair loss. Both pretty trivial things in the grand scheme of the sickness, yet it was her reaching out to survivors that would encourage her to eat when she was unable; to have someone else with short hair give her wig advice really keep her spirits going.

The mother of first child helped me realize that giving support sometimes means getting the help of others that have been through the same event. The support from Susan G Komen helped my mother in ways I was unable to. So all I hope is that by supporting a cause with such great people, I can help others.
