Favorite Books & Movies:
Books: anything by Tom Clancy, P.J. O'Rourke, John Grisham or Robert Ludlum; movies: "The Godfather," "Apocalypse Now," "Sling Blade," "O Brother Where Art Thou?" and "Field of Dreams"

Likes Best About North Carolina:
I'm biased because I grew up here, but I love the variety -- you can drive from the mountains to the coast and never leave the state. Plus, having four ACC schools here doesn't hurt.

Most Memorable Assignments:
The Carolina Hurricanes' Stanley Cup runs in 2002 and 2006 were by far the most satisfying assignments I've had. Watching N.C. State, Duke and Carolina fans all cheer for the same team still boggles my mind. My most interesting assignments have tended to be individual stories, like meeting the man who gave Michael Jordan his first part-time job.
