Hobbies, Interests & Community Involvement:

Give me a 5K, and I'll run it! I have completed three triathlons and 10 marathons. Running is probably my favorite hobby. Hopefully, I can stick to my goal of completing two marathons a year. In Michigan, I was involved with an organization called "Girls on the Run." Girls in grades three through five meet for several weeks after school. They talk about "girl" issues and then, to celebrate, they run a 5K together. It's an amazing program with roots here in North Carolina.

Family:
Husband, Dave, sons, Charlie and Kellen, and a shih tzu, Stubbs.

Favorite Books & Movies:

Books: "This I Believe ..." (a collection of personal philosophies) and "The Grapes of Wrath;" movies: "Hoosiers," "Arthur," "Breaking Away" and "Stealing Home." Some of those are just books and movies that I like. Others remind me of people and places that are important to me.

Likes Best About North Carolina:
No lake-effect snow, the Andy Griffith statue and nice people!

Most Memorable Assignments:

I have three: Hurricane Fran for what it taught me as a young producer just out of college; Election 2000 -- I reported from West Palm Beach and saw history in the making; Boston Marathon -- I ran while reporting live with a cell phone. It was an incredible personal and professional accomplishment.
