My favorite career moment was covering Summerville's win over Spartanburg in the South Carolina basketball finals. The emotion surrounding the game was second to none. Summerville was playing in the memory of Louis Mulkey, a fire fighter/coach, who was killed while fighting a fire in Charleston. The team won the state title when a last-second full-court shot was waved off. Mulkey's wife accepted the medal. Stories like that are why I got into this business.
