ROXBORO, N.C. — A Roxboro couple was charged with murder Monday after their 11-year-old daughter, who spent three years on life support, died at a Greenville hospital, authorities said.

Willie Lunsford and Dominique Lunsford, both of 526 S. Main St., were originally charged with felony child abuse on Oct. 13, 2010, after their daughter, Danielle, was taken to Danville Regional Hospital in Danville, Va.

The girl was in cardiac arrest, unresponsive and severely malnourished, authorities said.

She died Sept. 25 at Vidant Children's Hospital.

The Lunsfords were placed in the Caswell County jail under $250,000 bonds. They are due in court Wednesday.
