A man was pinned inside a Honda passenger vehicle following a crash on Beulah Hill Church Road near the intersection of Thomas's Crossroads at about 6 p.m., authorities said.

MOORE COUNTY, N.C. — Two drivers were hospitalized Monday evening after a head-on collision in Moore County.

A man was pinned inside a Honda passenger vehicle following a crash on Beulah Hill Church Road near the intersection of Thomas’s Crossroads at about 6 p.m., authorities said.

Emergency responders had to cut the roof off the Honda and push the vehicle’s dashboard off the man using specialized rescue tools.

A woman driving a Mitsubishi Lancer was able to escape her vehicle with the assistance of bystanders and emergency responders.

Both drivers were airlifted by helicopters from UNC Chapel Hill for treatment.

Beulah Hill Church Road was blocked for over an hour while authorities cleared the scene.

The cause of the crash remained under investigation.
