ROLESVILLE, N.C. — Rolesville police on Friday issued official word that the two people killed in a house fire a week ago were a mother and son.
Kristy Marie Bryan, 39, and her son Tyler W. Bryan, 3, died in the fire on Roles Saddle Drive. Tyler's twin brother was also home at the time of the fire. He was taken for treatment to UNC Hospitals.

The update from Rolesville Mayor Frank Eagles did not clear up any of the questions about the cause of the fire.

"We want to continue to assure the public that the Rolesville Police Department is doing everything in their power, along with the assistance of the District Attorney’s office, to expedite the case but still preserve its integrity. We ask for the public’s patience as this process continues," Eagles said. "We want to make sure that all the facts are straight before making any further comment."

He assured Rolesville residents that the fire doesn't imply a threat to them or their homes.

Rolesville Police Chief Bobby Langston met Tuesday with Wake County prosecutors to discuss the fire investigation, but neither has classified the cause as a crime.

On the day of the fire, Langston said investigators called it "suspicious."
Authorities have sealed a search warrant in the case for 90 days.
