Rocky Mount woman sought on felony child abuse charge

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. — Authorities are searching for a Rocky Mount woman wanted for felony child abuse and animal cruelty.

Misty Lynch, 32, also faces charges of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, police said.

Officers responded to 14 Wildberry Drive on Tuesday in an attempt to serve existing warrants on Lynch for various charges related to school attendance violations, failure to appear on traffic charges and injury to real property.

Officers observed unsanitary conditions inside the residence and contacted animal control officers, environmental services and the Department of Social Services.

Officers located Robert Tritt, 24, and a 6-year-old inside the residence along with two dogs. The Department of Social Services has placed the juvenile with other family members.

Tritt was charged with two counts of resisting a public officer, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, cruelty to animals and felony child abuse.

Tritt was being held under a $45,000 bond in the Nash County jail on Wednesday.
