Rocky Mount, N.C. — A 21-year-old Rocky Mount woman is setting her sights on stardom with a run on FOX's hit TV show "X Factor."
Brandie Love said her singing career began in church.
"I was five years old and I sang the National Anthem in church and that's where it all started," Love said.
Love's mother, Denise Love, said her daughter was bursting with talent at that young age.
"When she was singing in church at five years old, I knew," Denise Love said.
So, she signed her daughter up for singing and music lessons, and encouraged her to compete in local talent competitions.
But an especially proud moment came last week when Brandie Love's audition aired on "X Factor."
"I could just cry," Denise Love said.
Now banners are going up with Brandie Love's name on them. The Rocky Mount back roads where she grew up come through in her music, but her stage is much bigger now and people like what they're hearing.
"My life has changed that people know who I am now," Brandie Love said. "These people like me."
"X Factor" airs on WRAL's sister station FOX 50 at 8 p.m. on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
