Rocky Mount woman charged with murder

Police say Christine Hana Jackson and Jemonte Donell Spragley, 27, were arguing in the backyard of a home at 536 Powell Drive on Friday night.

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. — A 31-year-old Rocky Mount woman faces charges of second-degree murder and domestic violence.

Police say Christine Hana Jackson and Jemonte Donell Spragley, 27, were arguing in the backyard of a home at 536 Powell Drive on Friday night.

Authorities said Jackson went inside and locked the door. Spragley broke the glass door and entered.

Jackson assaulted Spragley in the neck with a knife.

Spragley was transported to Nash General Hospital where he died.

When personnel from the Crime Scene Evidence Unit and Criminal Investigation Division responded to process the crime scene and investigate the incident, several marijuana plants were found on the property.

Jackson is also charged with assault on a government official, possession of marijuana and manufacturing marijuana.

She was being held with no bond at the Nash County jail on Monday.
