Rocky Mount tax preparer accused of fraud

Rocky Mount, N.C. — A Rocky Mount tax preparer arrested Friday is accused of filing bogus state tax returns for his clients, according the state Department of Revenue.
Eugene Harrison Sr., 47, of the 100 block of Tonya Court in Nashville, is charged with 19 counts of aid or assist in the preparation of fraudulent tax returns and one count of willful failure to file a North Carolina Individual Income Tax Return.
Authorities said Harrison, who owns H & J Tax Solvers in Rocky Mount, helped prepare the false claims for clients in 2010 and 2011. He also failed to file his own state tax return.
Harrison was held under a $501,000 secured bond and is schedule for a first court appearance April 8 in Wake County District Court.
