Rocky Mount police seek suspected shooter

Rocky Mount police are searching for Tarrell Antoine Powell, 25, who is accused of shooting an acquaintance outside Neighborhood Grocery, at 701 Myrtle Ave., Friday night.

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. — Rocky Mount police are searching for Tarrell Antoine Powell, 25, who is accused of shooting an acquaintance outside Neighborhood Grocery, at 701 Myrtle Ave., Friday night.

Police say Powell fought with Anthony Corta Cooper, 30, earlier in the day and then shot him around 6:30 p.m.

Cooper was taken to Pitt Memorial Hospital with critical injuries and was in stable condition Friday night, police said.

Powell faces a charge of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury. Anyone with information on his whereabouts should call the Rocky Mount Police Department at 972-1411.
