Rocky Mount police investigating 10-year-old's death

Posted April 20, 2009

— Rocky Mount police are investigating the death of a 10-year-old who died Monday morning.

Police have released little details about the victim or the case but said Monday that officers received a report Saturday afternoon of an alleged child assault.

The child was treated at Nash General Hospital and later transferred to Pitt Memorial Hospital, where the child died at about 4 a.m.

Police said Monday morning that there was no relevant information to support any criminal wrongdoing but that an autopsy will be performed to determine if a criminal investigation is necessary.

Nash County Department of Social Services has also been involved in the investigation, police said.

Maybe you should all be praying for this childs family, and hope that they put the person away for a long time or better options, rather than worry about what information WRAL did or did not give you.

For all of you that think WRAL didn't give enough details -- that is why it is listed under "News Briefs" because they do not have any further information.

I didn't see a thing on WRAL about this being "breaking news". The same information, or as some of you seem to think, the lack of information is on Rocky Mount's newspaper website.
Maybe some of you who always seem to find fault with how and what WRAL reports need to find somewhere else to get your news.

Thx WRAL for whatever info we get.If we wait until ALL the details are in,then we might not ever know a thing in the news!

Squeek I agree. Just makes people sit around speculating(spelling off here) or the want come back and tell what really happened. They should just hold off awhile get a little more info and then let it roll.

This was very informative. Something happened somewhere to somebody. Great reporting.

What is the point of WRAL even mentioning this story? There is absolutely NO information here. If it's to say they "broke" the story, I beg to differ. You can say numerous times a day that something happened to somebody and give no details, and odds are pretty good that there'll be a story somewhere about something happening to somebody, but that doesn't mean WRAL broke the story.
