Ronald Carlton Hicks Jr. pleaded guilty Monday to second-degree murder in the Jan. 13, 2010, death of Melissa Jo Wise.

Wise, 38, was found dead inside a room at the Executive Inn in Rocky Mount. She had been strangled, WITN-TV reported.
