WILSON, N.C. — Wilson police charged a Rocky Mount man Wednesday in connection with a fatal shooting two weeks ago at an apartment complex parking lot.

Darrion Devon Williams, 27, of 240 River Run Road, faces one count of first-degree murder and one count of attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon in the Oct. 24 death of Ronnie Earl Griffin. Williams was placed in the Wilson County jail without bond. He is due in court Friday.

Police say Griffin, 29, of 3824 Old Coach Road in Raleigh, was found with a gunshot wound inside a parked car at Beacon Pointe Apartments on Lipscomb Road.

He died at the scene.

The daytime shooting caused authorities to lock down three nearby schools.

The homicide is still under investigation, police said, and anyone with information is asked to call 252-399-2323.
