Rocky Mount man charged in fatal shooting

Rocky Mount, N.C. — A Rocky Mount man has been arrested in connection with a Tuesday night shooting that left a woman dead and a man wounded, police said Thursday.
Christopher Lee Coppedge, 38, was charged with first-degree murder and was being held without bond in the Nash County jail.
Shwanica Small, 37, of Spring Hope, was killed in the shooting at 1222 Liberty St., police said. Dante Johnson, 21, of Rocky Mount, was treated at UNC Nash Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries and was released.
Police haven't released other details in the case, such as a possible motive or what led to Coppedge's arrest.
