A Rocky Mount man was arrested Friday as part of an ongoing investigation into the sale and use of illegal drugs in the city.

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. — A Rocky Mount man was arrested Friday as part of an ongoing investigation into the sale and use of illegal drugs in the city.

Antonio Jermaine Knight, 21, of 513 S. Vyne Street, was located in the parking lot of a Lowe’s store and fled on foot as members of the Tar River Regional Task Force approached his vehicle.

Knight was arrested after a brief chase, authorities said.

Authorities said Knight was in possession of 120 bindles of heroin with a street value of $2,400, two grams of marijuana, and $595 in cash.

Knight was charged with two counts of trafficking heroin, maintaining a vehicle or dwelling for keeping and selling a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and resisting or obstructing a public officer.

He was being held at the Nash County Detention Center under $250,000 secured bond.
