Rocky Mount man arrested for domestic violence

According to police, Anthony Earl Brown, 44, of 611 E. Grand Ave., poured rubbing alcohol on Martha Alford, 37, then threw a match at her.

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. — Rocky Mount police charged a man with assault Monday after he allegedly tried to set a woman on fire.

According to police, Anthony Earl Brown, 44, of 611 E. Grand Ave., poured rubbing alcohol on Martha Alford, 37, then threw a match at her.

Police and firefighters responded to the scene. Alford was taken to the North Carolina Jaycee Burn Center at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill. Brown was taken into custody on charges of domestic violence and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.
