Rockingham sheriff parachutes for Special Olympics

Posted August 18, 2014

— Rockingham County Sheriff Sam Page planned a parachute jump Monday to benefit Special Olympics.

Page will join members of the All Veterans Parachute team, and tandem jump with the same team member who guided a jump for former President George H.W. Bush a few months ago for his 90th birthday.

Page got local businesses to ante up $2,500 for Special Olympics of North Carolina to sponsor his jump.

If parachuting and ice water on the head solves problems, then that's easy enough. Such stunts do get publicity. The Sheriff is going to get people to pay thousands to Special O for him to do so, so he's done that much.

I wish he could have gotten more money for the Special Olympics. Why only $2500? I applaud Sheriff Page for his efforts, no matter the dollar amount
