LUMBERTON, N.C. — State investigators are looking into allegations that three Robeson County Sheriff’s Office employees had sex with a woman in their custody.

The State Bureau of Investigation launched the probe after allegations were brought to the sheriff's office, authorities said.

Robeson County Sheriff Kenneth Sealey said the employees no longer work for his department. A bailiff and a jailer were fired Thursday, and a  second bailiff retired Friday, he said.

Sealey declined to identify the employees because of the SBI investigation.
