Saint Pauls, N.C. — A 34-year-old Robeson County woman was raped in her home Monday night, authorities said Wednesday.
The woman told investigators that a man broke into her home shortly after she returned from her mother's house. The man pushed her to the floor of the kitchen and raped her, she said.
Deputies found her with red marks on her face and arm, a scratch across her chest and a bloody lip.
No description of her assailant was released.
Robeson County Sheriff's Office investigators said the case isn't related to a series of sexual assaults in the Fayetteville area.
Six women in Fayetteville and a seventh in Hope Mills reported being sexually assaulted since late June. In each case, the victim said a man broke her home – usually an apartment – late at night while she was alone, according to police reports. In an eighth case, a burglar tried to sexually assault a Fayetteville woman before fleeing.
Fayetteville police said a Fort Bragg soldier who was charged Monday with two burglaries and one sexual assault on post in December is a person of interest in the cases.
