Robeson County Solves Ambulance Shortage
After having only one working ambulance a few months ago, Robeson County has 14 on the road.

The county EMS had mechanical problems with several ambulances and at times had to rely on volunteer fire departments for emergency services.
County officials said last year that Ford had sold them lemons, and the engines didn't work. New engines have been put in nine ambulances, and the county recently purchased five new vehicles.
Dr. Bruce Whitman, director of the emergency department at Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton, said the ambulance shortage didn't put patients at risk but created long delays in service.
