Robert Rader was named Tuesday as the new chief District Court Judge of Wake County.

<b>RALEIGH, N.C.</b> — District Court Judge Robert Rader was named Tuesday as the new chief district court judge of Wake County.

Rader was named to the position by state Chief Supreme Court Judge Sarah Parker. Rader replaces Joyce Hamilton, who will leave the bench Wednesday after nearly seven years of service as chief district court judge.

Hamilton was the first female assistant district attorney in Wake County. She was also the first woman elected district court judge for Wake County.
