FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Alert, feisty victims helped Fayetteville police nab a suspect in two robberies in August Friday.

Police said that on Aug. 19, a would-be robber pulled his vehicle up next to a man at an ATM, showed a weapon and demanded money. The victim managed to pull away, get behind the suspect's vehicle and note the license plate.

A short time later, a man tried to snatch a woman's purse as she was leaving the Ah-Roy Thai Restaurant, 8715 Cliffdale Road, police said. When she screamed for help, the man fled in a vehicle that matched the description of the vehicle used in the first robbery.

On Friday, police arrested Jacquel Stevenson, 20, of 6717 Carloway Drive, on charges of robbery with a dangerous weapon and conspiracy to commit robbery.
