FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Police said Tuesday that they are investigating a series of robberies involving food delivery drivers in Fayetteville.

Three delivery drivers have been robbed in the past week in the area near Mary and Wall streets, police said, and all three crimes occurred between 8 and 10:30 p.m. Handguns were displayed in two of the incidents, and the robbers used physical force in the third, police said.

Three or four people participated in each robbery. The victims couldn't provide detailed descriptions, but they noted that the robbers wore dark clothing and ski masks and one wore a blue-and-yellow jacket. A woman dressed as a man and wearing a doo-rag might have been involved in one of the robberies, police said.

Police asked business owners to consider requiring customers to pay by credit card on all deliveries made after 8 p.m. and posting signs on the delivery vehicles stating that the drivers don't carry cash.

Anybody with information about any of the robberies is asked to call Fayetteville police at 910-433-1529 or Crime Stoppers at 910-483-8477.
