Robber shoots Wayne store clerk
A robber shot a clerk who fought him inside a Dudley store Monday night, according to the Wayne County Sheriff's Office.
Posted — UpdatedMaj. Tom Effler said that a masked man entered Glenn's Country Store on Genoa Road around 11 p.m. and pulled out a handgun. The clerk got out his own handgun and tried to shoot the robber but missed. The two men then struggled, and the clerk was shot in the shoulder.
The robber escaped with an undisclosed amount of money and the clerk's handgun, authorities said.
The clerk, whose name wasn't released, was taken to Wayne Memorial Hospital in Goldsboro. His injuries were non-life-threatening.
Effler said that investigators have not identified any suspects.
