Roanoke Rapids slaying suspect surrenders
A man wanted for murder in Roanoke Rapids will be featured on "America's Most Wanted" Saturday, according to the Halifax County Sheriff's Office.

Richard Charles Demello, 44, was wanted in connection with the slaying of Michael Davis, 48, at his Mobley Street home. A woman was also threatened and tied up during the attack but managed to escape.
Investigators believe that Demello stole Davis' Dodge Neon and fled from the scene. He was featured on "America's Most Wanted" last Saturday.
The unoccupied Neon was found in a public parking lot in Colonial Heights, Va., on Tuesday, said Maj. Bruce Temple with the Halifax County Sheriff's Office.
On Wednesday, Demello called the Halifax County Sheriff's Office and said he wanted to surrender. Virginia State Police arrested him at a T.A. truck stop in Ashland, Va.
The Halifax Sheriff's Office is seeking to extradite Demello, but no timetable has been set, Temple said. He faces charges of first-degree murder, assault with a deadly weapon, first-degree kidnapping and larceny of a motor vehicle.
Investigators have said that Demello and Davis knew each other but haven't commented on a motive for the slaying.
Demello was released from prison in January and has 11 convictions for felony breaking-and-entering and larceny in Harnett County, according to state Department of Correction records.
