Roanoke Rapids man charged with attempted rape

ROANOKE RAPIDS, N.C. — A Roanoke Rapids man was arrested and charged Sunday in an attempted rape.

Derrick Tyrone Davis, 26, faces two counts of assault on a female and one count each of second-degree kidnapping and second-degree attempted rape.

He was in the Halifax County jail Sunday evening under a $100,000 bond. He’s expected to appear in in Halifax County District court on Dec. 15.

Halifax County sheriff’s investigators were called to Halifax Regional Medical Center Sunday in response to a woman’s claims of attack. When they arrived, there were two victims, authorities said.
