Motorcyclist killed in Fayetteville crash

A portion of Bingham Drive in Fayetteville was closed Sunday evening after a crash between a motorcycle and pick-up truck.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A portion of Bingham Drive in Fayetteville was closed Sunday evening after a crash between a motorcycle and pick-up truck.

Fayetteville police said officers responded to the reported crash on Bingham Drive at Greenock Avenue at about 5:15 p.m.

Investigators said that a white Ford F150 pick-up truck driven by Marion Lee, 57, of the 2100 block of Calista Circle and a motorcycle, operated by Junior Antonio Diaz Ortiz, 17, of the 5400 block of Dairy Drive collided at the intersection, sending the Ortiz to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in serious condition.

Ortiz was in surgery for his injuries Sunday night and died three days later. Lee was not injured in the incident.

Bingham Drive between Bunce Road and Crestwood Avenue was closed for a period of time Sunday night as police investigated the crash.

Police said no charges had been filed Sunday night.
