Ritter Park's playground will be closed again Tuesday and Wednesday, weather permitting, to make room for work at the popular park.
Shade structures went up over parts of the playground this weekend. On Tuesday and Wednesday, weather permitting, new rubber surfacing will be installed around the new umbrellas.
The umbrella installation is in addition to the restroom renovations that continue through the end of April, according to a press release. Accessible toilets and a hand washing station are available now next to the existing facility. The baseball/softball fields, basketball court and picnic shelter remain open during the work.
The town is spending about $21,500 to install the umbrellas. The restroom renovation is budgeted for $135,000.
Ritter Park is at 301 Lochmere Drive West, Cary.
