Rifle stolen from Cumberland patrol car

Posted April 6, 2015

— Cumberland County authorities said Monday they are searching for two men who broke into a Sheriff’s Office patrol car and stole a semi-automatic rifle.

The patrol car was parked on the 8000 block of Kalmia Lane south of Hope Mills early Friday when the men smashed its windows and grabbed the Smith & Wesson MP15X rifle, an Eotech 2.0 sight and Streamlight GLR1 light, authorities said.

Authorities have only vague descriptions of the two thieves.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office at 910-323-1500, the Property Crimes Unit at 910-677-5455 or Fayetteville/Cumberland County Crime Stoppers at 910-483-8477.

And if you respond to a crime in progress, run to the back of your vehicle and open the trunk for your weapon. Great idea (DUH) and while you are at it, how about doing the same thing with the side-arm. Maybe they should adopt what IS done in England, CARRY BATONS ONLY against criminals with super firepower

Just not sure it was a good idea if he left the stuff in open sight instead of the trunk. Oh yeah, and the vague description is??

OK. Let's hear from all the anti gun liberals how this officer did not have his weapon secured and shouldn't be trusted with an weapon.
