KNIGHTDALE, N.C. — Rex Healthcare has received state approval to open an ambulatory care center in Knightdale.

The $9.6 million center will be located at the intersection of Interstate 540 and U.S. Highway 64 and is scheduled to open in January 2009.

It will provide urgent care, laboratory services, X-rays, digital mammography, a mobile CT unit, a sleep lab and a wound healing center. Physician offices also will be located at the site.

“The Knightdale location will provide numerous services that other Rex locations have offered for years. This new facility will now give eastern Wake County residents a convenient option for a majority of their health care needs,” David Strong, president of Rex Healthcare, said in a statement.

“Rex has been involved with the Knightdale community for the past year and a half, and we are thrilled to see the organization put down roots in our community,” Jennifer Bryan, executive director of the Knightdale Chamber of Commerce, said in the statement.
