Rex hosts reunion for Special Care Nursery families

Posted October 10, 2014

Did your little one spend time at Rex Healthcare's Special Care Nursery Family Reunion, also known as the neonatal intensive care unit?

Rex is hosting a family reunion from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, at Ritter Park, 301 Lochmere Dr. West, in Cary. Families are invited to reconnect with their nurses, doctors and other families for a few hours of outdoor activities. The event includes treats such as ice cream, snacks, games, crafts, music and more.

The nursery serves hundreds of premature and critically ill babies each year. It's staffed by neonatologists, nurses and others who help the patients and families. Volunteers, including parents of previous patients, also help out.

My grandson, born May 23, 2014 spent 119 days between Duke and Rex NICUs. He's been home for almost a month and is doing very well. Special THANK YOUs the docs and nurses who do so much for these babies and their families.
