— Crime Stoppers is offering a reward for information leading to an arrest in the November 2008 murder of Ernesto Allen, 27.

Allen, of Gray Avenue, died after he was shot around 9:30 p.m., Nov. 2, 2008, in front of 418 Dowd St.

An officer was driving to a hit-and-run call when a person flagged him down and said a man had been shot near the intersection of Elizabeth and Dowd streets.

Officers searched the area and found Allen lying on the ground. He was taken to Duke University Hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Residents told officers they heard several shots, but investigators do not have a description of a suspect or suspect's vehicle.

Anyone with information is asked to call Investigator Gill at 919-560-4440, ext. 29322, or Crime Stoppers at 683-1200. Crime Stoppers pays cash rewards for information leading to arrests in felony cases and callers never have to identify themselves.

Somebody saw this. Residents are complying with the criminal-inspired "Don't Snitch" rule. It's a shame. The person who murdered this young man will murder again.
