Reward offered in New Year's Day slaying in Durham

— Crime Stoppers on Monday offered a reward for information leading to an arrest in a Jan. 1 homicide on Ivy Street.

Police officers responding to a disturbance in the 1300 block of Ivy Street at about 4:40 a.m. found Juan Castillo-Castillo, 26, of Bingham Street in Durham, shot in the chest and lying in the back of a Ford pickup truck. He died at Duke University Hospital.

No charges have been filed in the case, and the investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the Durham Police Department at 919-560-4440, extension 29337, or Crime Stoppers at 919-683-1200.

    thank you gmuny33 for pointing that out. in the last weeks there has been crime all over raleigh, but none of the anti-durham people seem to comment on it. ok let correct that one anti-durham person did comment on one story. he said "i bet they were from durham." so sad.

    Caveman93, How bout they also catch the person who was shot at the IHOP in Raleigh, or is that not worth the story? Funny thing is, it was the same night, but greatly overlooked.

    albertleon7 and Caveman93, it's funny how quickly you comment about Durham, and bashing it as you do, but you overlook the story right above this one, that states that there was someone caught for selling over 250k in drugs in Raleigh. I the article used a play on words, because they said around NC State. Last I checked, NC State was in Raleigh. How bout they investigate the shooting and death that took place at IHOP on New Year's night, but I guess that's not a crime or isn't reported in the perfect county and city of Raleigh, Wake Co.
