Reward offered in Durham officer-involved shooting

Durham police are searching for a man who they said fired shots at an officer during a Saturday night confrontation.

DURHAM, N.C. — Durham police are searching for a man who they said fired shots at an officer during a Saturday night confrontation.

Police said that a man fired the shots during a foot chase at about 11:30 p.m. on Sima Avenue in the McDougald Terrace housing community. Officers were questioning the man when he started to run and fired shots in the direction of one officer, police said.

Authorities said that the officer returned fire, but nobody was injured during the incident.

The suspect is described as a black man in his late 20s or early 30s who is 6 feet 2 inches tall and about 170 pounds. He wore is hair in small cornrows and was wearing a black ball cap, black jacket, dark jeans, and black sneakers.

Anybody with information is asked to call Durham police at 919-560-4415 or Crime Stoppers at 919-683-1200. A reward is offered for any information that leads to an arrest.
