CALYPSO, N.C. — Federal and local authorities have offered a reward for information leading to an arrest in connection with a recent break-in at and theft from a Duplin County gun dealer.

Seventy-one handguns and two rifles were stolen from Calypso Wholesale, at 108 4th St., on Saturday night.

Investigators are reviewing security images, but the thieves' faces were covered.

The U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Duplin County Sheriff’s Office and the National Shooting Sports Foundation, the trade association for the firearms industry, are each offering a $5,000 reward in the case.

The reward is part of a national cooperative initiative between the National Sports Shooting Foundation and ATF in which the group matches ATF rewards in cases involving the theft of guns from federally licensed firearms retailers, officials said. ATF works with members of the firearms industry to curb the criminal acquisition and misuse of firearms.

Anyone with information about the Calypso Wholesale robbery is asked to call the ATF at 1-800-283-4867.
