Food Lion burglaries
DURHAM, N.C. — Crime Stoppers is offering a reward for information leading to an arrest in a series of burglaries targeting Food Lion stores in the Durham area.

Five of the grocery stores have been burglarized since March, and cigarettes were stolen in four of the burglaries. The suspects attempted to take cigarettes in the fifth burglary but could not get into a secured area.

The most recent burglary was 3:15 a.m. Thursday at the Food Lion at 2121 T.W. Alexander Drive. Investigators said two people broke into the store, filled large trash cans with cartons of cigarettes and fled.

Similar burglaries have been reported in several areas of North Carolina, including Raleigh and Garner.

In most cases, the suspects wore hoodies and bandanas and hit stores during the early-morning hours. They have been seen driving gold and dark-colored SUVs.

Anyone with information is asked to call investigators at 919-560-4415, ext. 29312 or Crime Stoppers at 919-683-1200. Crime Stoppers pays cash rewards for information leading to arrests in felony cases, and callers never have to identify themselves.
