DURHAM, N.C. — The family of a Durham man who was fatally shot Saturday afternoon is offering a $500 reward for information leading to an arrest in the case.

Police found Alfredo D. Jobel, 28, dead on a sidewalk in the 1400 block of Liberty Street Saturday afternoon. Investigators said he had been shot while in a vehicle, which then collided with a second vehicle.

Jobel's sister said Monday that she thinks he got into an altercation with someone earlier in the day and was followed home.

"He doesn't sell drugs. He's not in the streets. I don't understand how this could have happened to somebody like him," Angel Jobel said of the father of two.

"He's not a troublemaker. He doesn't go out on the streets and cause trouble. He's a homebody," said his mother, Sandra Anderson.

The family set up a memorial on the sidewalk, and police hung posters nearby seeking information in the shooting.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 919-683-1200.
