RALEIGH, N.C. — Officers with the Raleigh Police Department were investigating a crash and a robbery Monday morning after a woman was hit from behind and had her car pinned to a tree near Capital Boulevard.

At about 5:48 a.m., officers responded to Mars and Baugh streets where Wanda Suzette Howard, 47, a manager of a Burger King, was taking deposits to a bank. Howard's car was hit from behind and was pinned to a tree by a small, white truck.

An armed person got out of the truck, approached her and demanded the deposit slips, police said. The person went back to the truck and left the scene with an undisclosed amount of money.

"I saw something in his hand and it seemed like it was a gun," Howard said. "I was terrified and scared. I was in a frozen state."

Police said they have not made any arrests or filed any charges in connection with the crash.

Anyone with information about the incident should call Crime Stoppers at 919-334-4357.
