Report: Small plane crashed right after takeoff

A preliminary report from federal investigators indicates that Charles Zeigra was just five minutes into his flight June 14 when his ultralight plane crashed.

DUNN, N.C. — Charles Zeigra, 58, of Raleigh, had just taken off from a private airstrip near Dunn when his wing clipped the ground, causing the crash that claimed his life.

A preliminary report from federal investigators indicates that Zeigra was just five minutes into his flight June 14 when his ultralight plane crashed.

The final report on the crash is expected in a few months.
