Police: Missing NC woman faked disappearance to avoid court appearance
A North Carolina woman who was reported missing in Myrtle Beach, S.C., over the weekend faked her disappearance to avoid a Monday court appearance in Mecklenburg County, authorities told WBTV.

City spokesman Pat Dowling says investigators have determined that Amy Arrington, 42, of Lowell, North Carolina, did not drown in the ocean Saturday.
Dowling said Wednesday that investigators think the woman and her husband conspired for her to disappear to avoid a court appearance in Charlotte, North Carolina, on Monday on charges of forgery and identity theft. A judge has issued a warrant for her arrest.
Dowling says Paul David Arrington, 45, is being charged with filing a false police report about his wife's disappearance.
Investigators have not said where they think Amy Arrington is.
Paul Arrington told a lifeguard that he saw his wife walking into the ocean. He was going to join her about 20 minutes later, but he said in his report that she vanished. He reported her missing to a lifeguard.
Authorities searched both the water and on land to find Amy Arrington.
